Hi, I’m Lisa.

I’m an intersectional environmentalist passionate about using behavioral-science driven communications to inform and inspire action.

The first thing you need to know about me is that I value honest communications and seek to create a fun and authentic voice in all of my work. I also love a challenge - truly - and am easily amused by puns. No, really, I love puns.

Before I started my journey in higher-education I thought I wanted to work in grassroots sustainable development. After some incredible experiences working with a non-profit in Chiapas, Mexico and volunteering in Ghana with the United States Peace Corps, I quickly learned that that my real passion was in storytelling and the power of a good story.

When I’m not telling stories, you can find me outside in nature, spending time with my cat (and CFO - Chief Furry Officer) Francis, trying a new recipe or perusing a record store.

My Values

I am committed to intersectional environmentalism and advocate for the protection of people and our planet.

Green LMN operates on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Lənape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape) people and thanks these First Peoples who continue to live on these lands and care for them, and whose relationship to these lands existed long before the colonized lands we know now.

“Land acknowledgments do not exist in a past tense, or historical context: colonialism is a current ongoing process, and we need to build our mindfulness of our present participation.”
Northwestern University

While this land acknowledgement is just a start, alone it is not enough. Here are ways I take action to support Indigenous communities:

  • Support Indigenous organizations by donating time and money.

  • Support Indigenous-led grassroots change movements and campaigns.

  • Read and support Indigenous writers and artists.

  • Commit to returning land.

“Sustain the ones who sustain you and the earth will last forever.”

    Shared Creative Stories

Created multiple successful communications platforms for Princeton’s Office of Sustainability including one of the highest quality social media portfolios (pictured: the @tigersgogreen Instagram) on the Princeton campus and across higher-ed sustainability.

    Engaged a Diverse Campus

Collaborated with a community of students, faculty and staff to integrate sustainability into various campus programming and communications. In 2020, I overhauled student programming due to COVID-19 and redefined what engagement means virtually.

    Built a Community

Founder of the Sustainability Communicators Network, a community for sustainability communicators in higher education to network, collaborate, ask questions and share ideas.

 Why Lemons?

I forget the exact moment I realized my initials LMN sound like lemon. I’ve always loved lemons, and have a particular affection for the softball-sized varieties of lemons in southern Italy, where I can trace my family roots. If you’re looking for some creative symbolism, I suppose I could throw around words like “ripen”, “juice”, “zest” and “fresh”. Lemons are also nature’s cleaner, simple and effective (and eco-friendly!) disinfectants. But really, lemons, those small, tart and bright fruits are just another reminder of the planet that we are all fighting to protect.

What stories can we tell together?
